| Qualcosa di me Scrivere qualcosa di me è decisamente una questione spinosa. Mi sarei limitata alla definizione “scrittrice”, aggiungendo un più completo “scrivo testi teatrali per passione, racconti per divertimento e libri d’arte per professione”, lasciandomi presentare dai libri che ho pubblicato, dalle interviste sui giornali, dalle foto degli eventi a cui partecipo o da qualche video. Invece pare che sia troppo poco, soprattutto per chi, oltre a leggere i miei scritti, naviga sul mio sito internet e vuole collaborare con me. Dunque, chi sono? Una donna che tenta di fare della propria passione, una professione. Difficile, se consideriamo che testi teatrali, racconti e libri d’arte sono generi di nicchia. Fondamentalmente, mi piace – tramite la scrittura – cercare di acciuffare qualcosa di indefinito nell’aria, come ha scritto il premio Nobel Alice Munro in un suo racconto. O forse cerco, con essa, di dare un senso nuovo a certi miei pensieri e a quelli dei personaggi che invento. Comunque, scrivere non è mai stato semplice e tuttora lo faccio solo sotto l’impulso di un’autentica urgenza. Ricordo i miei primi goffi tentativi alle elementari alle prese con una storia di cavernicoli o la prima stesura di cinquecento pagine della tesi sulla maternità nella Russia degli anni Venti (mi sono laureata in lingua e letteratura russa): fu un vero incubo, fino a che non riuscii a riordinare le idee. Poi, anni dopo tra un corso di scrittura e l’altro, il compitino assegnato in classe di comporre un racconto di una pagina mi prese letteralmente la mano e scrissi il mio primo libro, il testo teatrale drammatico “Un pugno di fiori blu”. Da allora, ho pubblicato molti racconti in varie antologie e altre due pièce teatrali: il dramma storico “Sipario su personaggio noto. Le Ombre di Don Abbondio” su un ipotetico pomeriggio nella vita del curato manzoniano e il burlesque noir “Dalle 8 alle 5. Ogni riferimento a fatti, luoghi e persone è puramente casuale” ambientato in un ufficio qualunque senza nome, tempo e luogo, tra un capo da far fuori e colleghi a cui sopravvivere. Dal mio lavoro presso vari spazi espositivi nasce il progetto dei libri d’arte: ascoltando le esigenze di artisti, editori e tipografi ho ideato alcune collane progettandone la struttura, selezionando le opere, redigendo la critica ed effettuando le traduzione in inglese dei testi allo scopo di creare ogni volta un libro elegante, fondamentale per la conoscenza e la diffusione dell’opera di un artista, sia esso pittore, fotografo, scultore o poeta. La fotografia è l’altra mia grande passione, forse perché in ogni scatto leggo un nuovo avvincente racconto. Il libro “Nel tempo” raccoglie una serie di istantanee che ho realizzato sul molo dei pescatori di Cervia in cui ogni foto diventa un quadro astratto, rappresentando un prezioso microcosmo da svelare. Talvolta partecipo anche a mostre collettive con dipinti o fotografie su supporti poco convenzionali, tuttavia ho capito che in me prevale sempre la concretezza e più che dipingere su una tela preferisco magari reinventare un vecchio mobile o una stanza con carta vetrata, chiodi e pennelli, come una interior designer. In sostanza, da vera art curator come molti amano anche definirmi, sono una persona creativa, ma al tempo stesso estremamente pratica, concreta e organizzata che ama prendersi cura, con arte, dell’altro. Sia esso un racconto scrivendolo o facendo editing; sia esso un mobile o un locale rinnovandone l’aspetto; sia esso un artista curandone mostre, eventi o un libro d’arte. |
Something about me I personally find writing about myself something of a thorny issue. I would have limited myself to the definition of "writer", maybe adding a more complete “I write theatrical scripts for passion, short stories for fun and art books for work”, and leaving my presentation to the interviews and articles that have been published about me, the pictures of events in which I have taken part, or some videos. But it seems this is not enough, especially for those who, in addition to reading my texts, surf my website and would like to work with me. So, who am I? I am a woman who tries to turn her passion into a profession. Not easy, if we consider that theatrical scripts, short stories and art books are niche genres. Basically, I like - through writing - to try and catch something undefined in the air, as the winner of the Nobel Prize Alice Munro wrote in one of her stories. Or maybe, with my writing, I try to give a new sense of some to my thoughts and to those of the characters that I invent. However, writing has never been easy for me and I still do it only under the impulse of a genuine urgency. I remember my first clumsy attempts at primary school struggling with a history of cavemen, or the first draft of five hundred pages of the thesis on motherhood in Russia in the Twenties (I have a university degree in Russian language and literature): it was a real nightmare, until I managed to reorganize my ideas. Then, years later, between one writing course and another, the homework assigned in class to compose a page-long short story literally took my hand and I wrote my first book, the dramatic play “Un pugno di fiori blu” (“A fistful of blue flowers”). Since then I have published many short stories in various anthologies and another two plays: the historical drama “Sipario su personaggio noto. Le Ombre di Don Abbondio” (“Curtain on known character. The shadows of Don Abbondio”) about a hypothetical afternoon in the life of the priest Don Abbondio, the character created by Alessandro Manzoni in “The Betrothed”; and the burlesque noir “Dalle 8 alle 5. Ogni riferimento a fatti, luoghi e persone è puramente casuale” (“From 8 to 5. Any reference to events, places and persons is purely coincidental”), set in an ordinary anonymous office, without a time or a place, with a boss to be killed and colleagues to be survived. My projects on various art books originated from my work in many exhibition spaces: listening to the requirements of artists, publishers and printers I planned some series of books, studying the structure, selecting the works, writing the critique and supplying the English translation of the texts, in order to create an elegant book each time, fundamental to the understanding and diffusion of the work of an artist, whether he is a painter, a photographer, a sculptor or a poet. Photography is my other great passion, perhaps because I read a new charming story into every shot. The book “Nel tempo” (“Through time”) collects a series of shots that I took on the fishermen’s pier in Cervia (near Ravenna), where each photo becomes an abstract painting, representing a precious microcosm to be revealed. Sometimes I also take part in collective art exhibitions with particular paintings or photographs executed on unconventional supports. But, however, I realize that concreteness always prevails in me and to painting I generally prefer to reinvent an old piece of furniture or a room with sandpaper, nails and brushes, as an interior designer. In conclusion, as a real art curator, as many also like to define me, I am a creative person, but at the same time I am also extremely practical, concrete and organized and I love to take care of others in an artistic way. Whether it is a short story to be written or edited; a piece of furniture or a space to be renovated; or an artist whose exhibitions, events or art book need to be curated. |

I thought everything was over. Then I saw those paintings, sculptures, pictures, those marvellous works of art and I understood it was just the beginning. |
